Whether you are going out to the races, having a fancy afternoon tea or just going out to get as drunk as possible, it is best to come up with an advance plan for your event. You don't want to find out it is reservations only at the restaurant you are going to, or that there is a major event or match going on in the vicinity. The key is to research the location you have chosen and to check and see if that particular date is free from anything that might spoil your special event. Many people choose to have a theme for their event. You may have already seen gangs of Hen and Stag revellers in your local town centre; all dressed up in costumes, having a great time and thought ‘that is for me’. Or you may hate the idea of making a spectacle of yourself and want something more subdued instead. The choice is totally yours, but here are some great ideas that we have seen over the years... Naughty Girls & Boys. The most popular idea is to take the first letter of the guests name and add a naughty slogan that starts with the same letter. Examples are... Naughty Nicky, Erotic Emma, An*l Alison, Sp*nky Steve, Threesome Tom and Lickable Liam. Over the years we have seen many inventive combinations and are happy to print anything on our badges, so do not be embarrassed about your choice of text. You might prefer to have a description of their personality or a funny exploit instead. Examples include... Amy - Naughty but Shy, Liam - once fell off a cycle when drunk, Mike - Likes long legged blondes, Jess - Vodka & Lime Drinker, Toby - Once Sh*gged twins in Paris. Dressing Up. Ideas include Soldiers, Policemen, Sailors, Bumble Bees (due to Queen Bee), Chickens (Due to Hen & Chicks), Fairies, Devils, Vampires, Knights, Movie Stars (with funny names similar to real actors e.g. Steven Seagull), Nerds (always a fun one), Harry Potter, Pop Stars, Teachers & Pupils (think Britney Spears), and porn stars (you can give yourself funny porn star names on badges). And lets not forget dressing up by decade e.g. 60s, 70s, 80s. There are so many ideas once you get thinking about it, and dressing up is a really fun way to have a lot of fun. Event Based. A lot of people like to go to an event for their party. There are so many different ideas to choose from but they can include Horse & Dog Racing, Motor Racing, Go Karting, Laser Questing, Bowling, Hot Air Balloon rides, Spa Trips, Shows, Theatre, Paintballing ,Cinema, Theme Parks, Rock Climbing, Murder Mystery Nights, Stripper Shows, Sailing and many more. Some centres allow you to combine a few of these together such as popular holiday parcs. Quiet Parties. If getting drunk and adrenaline rushes are not your idea of fun, why not do something slower paced instead. We are seeing more and more people opt to celebrate by spending time with their friends and relatives at quieter events. An afternoon tea is always a lovely idea; many of you head for the famous tea rooms and department stores. Spa trips or weekends in a country hotel are also gaining popularity. Holidays. Many of you head abroad for your special events (lucky you) and go everywhere from Spain to Alaska. Getting away with your friends can be a great experience, especially if you are reaching an age milestone or are about to get married. It may cost more than the other options but even a cheap channel hop will make you feel like you are really getting away from the humdrum. City Breaks are also a great idea; and don't forget about all the wonderful cities in the UK. Party Games. Games are a great way to liven up a party if done right. You could set your guests strange challenges e.g. have badges with different tasks on them such as 'Kiss a man wearing red' or 'get the barman to give you something free' - so that you don't get into trouble you can go up to the person and show them your badge challenge when asking. The challenges could be specific to a person or picked at random. Other games could be traditional children’s games but with an adult theme e.g. naughty pass-the-parcel. It is best to avoid drinking games if you don't have some members of your group on soft drinks, unless you really do want to re-enact the famous movie 'The Hangover'. Large Parties. Many people have parties where there are so many guests that no one knows each other. Quite a few of our customers have solved this problem by putting a description along with the name. Examples are: Amy - Aunty of the Bride, Gemma - Friend from Uni, Steve - Work Friend, Malcom - Husband of Best Friend Rachael, etc.
