PHOTO BADGE INSTRUCTIONS:

Please read ALL the instructions below before sending us your photo's.

1. WHAT TYPE OF FILES DOES MAKEABADGE ACCEPT?

2. HOW DO I PREPARE MY PHOTO?

We will do all the work for you - and it's FREE. You don't need to be an expert - just attach your photo/s to an email and we will do the rest. Try to send us the best quality image that you can. If you are scanning your photo - select the highest quality 300 dpi.

Please DO NOT attach more than 4 photo's per email. If your photo is too large or you attach too many photo's your email may bounce back. Let us know if you experience any problems as we can provide an alternative upload area online. Please try not to send huge photo's if you are able to resize them - we often get photo's over a meter wide! Some supersize pictures are taking hours to get to us which will slow down your design turnaround time. We try for same day design return where possible but allow 24 hours & +hrs for mutiple submissions.

IF YOU SEND MORE THAN ONE PHOTO IT WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR DESIGN TIME.

We get lots of customers that only want to use a single photo design but send more than one photo for a bigger choice. Other customers want a different photo on every badge. We are always happy to do either option but please allow us extra time; only single photo requests are guaranteed within 24 hours..

3. WHAT IF I CAN'T PUT MY PHOTO ONTO A COMPUTER?

We can scan your old photo's in if you don't have a scanner. We make no charge for the scanning but do charge extra p&p if you want more than 1 standard size photo returned. This can be 50p-£2 depending on the amount of photo's you have sent us.

Don't send any precious photo's through the mail and always get recorded delivery to make sure they arrive here in York. If you scan your own photo's make sure you select the 300DPI highest quality setting.

If you send us an image that has the subjects too close to the edge of the photo you may end up with a blank strip on either side. We will always send you a no obligation preview. If you are unsure - why not let us try. You are under no obligation to buy the design.

5. WHY SHOULDN'T I CROP THE IMAGE BEFORE SENDING?

If you send us an image that has been cropped (cut down to size), you could end up with a blank strip on either side. You are welcome to send a cropped image along with the full-size original.

Alternatively, send just the full-sized image but describe the area you would like to appear in the badge. We will always send you a no obligation preview.

Very old photo's or poor quality images can still be put onto a badge. Obviously the images will not be the same quality as modern photo's but can often produce excellent results. We will always send you a no obligation preview to look at.

6. CAN I ADD TEXT?

We have lots of text fonts and colours and can offer text in different locations - bear in mind that it might not fit on if you send too much text. Badges with lots of text end up with smaller writing. We will always send you a no obligation preview. You don't need to be an expert - we can fit the wording on for you and will give you more than one sample to preview. We are happy to provide badges with no text on.

7. HOW CAN MY PHOTO'S BE USED?

The text over photo badge is the fastest design turnaround. The circle shape is ideal for photo's that can't be used for the text over photo option due to shape or the location of the person. The last two photo badge options are only available for suitable photo's. We can do sets of badges with different photo's but this slows down the design time. We get lots of customers that only want a single photo but send more than one in for extensive digital editing before they choose. We will do this but please allow extra time; they may not be finished within 24 hours.

8. CAN I USE A PHOTO OFF THE INTERNET OR FROM A PRINTED SOURCE?

We can't print any copyrighted images. That means NO images from the internet without permission (unless it is your own picture).

Some web sites offer royalty free images for your personal use. The moment we put the image onto a badge and sell it; it turns into commercial use and you may need extra permission for this. Tell them you are not a business and just want to have some badges made for your own use, lots of sites say yes to this.

There are hundreds of photo sites with images & stock photo's to buy. Don't forget that we have over 1000 free images for your badge use on this site and more in our offline collection.

We will not break copyright law, please don't ask us to bend the rules. Every week we turn down dozens of requests for movie star badges and children's characters.
